What you need to know about the Young Writers Program:
National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, is a month-long writing challenge during which participants attempt to write a 50,00 word manuscript over a span of 30 days. From this has spun a community of creative individuals of similar interests, and from that came the YWP.
The Young Writers' Program (YWP), is a branch of NaNoWriMo intended for young writers under eighteen not yet prepared to tackle 50,000 words. It is frequently used as a form of teaching creative writing to a younger audience, and whole classrooms can work together to reach their word goals. Once a young writer is over the age of thirteen, they may access the forums where they can receive advice, support, and plenty of laughs and new friends.
Every November, writers from all over the world log onto this site to start a new project, or continue an old one. Most cities will have monthly meet-ups where any NaNoer nearby can drop in and write surrounded by others in the same boat.
The NaNoWriMo and YWP communities are very closely knit and the forums reflect that. From buddy-ing up with new joiners to complimenting other users, there isn't a thread in the YWP where I feel judged, harshly criticized or looked down on. *takes breath*
In closing, the YWP is basically the best place for any young writer to learn new things, hang out with people like them, and have a lot of fun.
so gud i luv it :))
